The most valuable currency anyone can choose to practice
Stick to your word. Accountability, walk the talk.
And if you can’t make it finally, at least communicate proactively in time, manner and form so the people you are letting down are aware and can re[plan] their days in advance, not at the very last minute.
Hold on to your word/s is such an important attribute you have that you should respect it no matter what, because if proves you genuinely care for the others. And caring for the people we work with, we share our lives with, is something of invaluable price.
We can’t give or take if we don’t stick to our word. We can’t have respect from others and for ourselves if we don’t respond for what we commit to do.
We can’t grow if we don’t demand ourselves such commitments.
This has been proved to be one of the most important values (actions around it) making leadership effective. And leadership begins with oneself.
And its consequence is you will be respected by others too. And another consequence is you will be happier and less stressed. Because you will release more oxytocin and serotonin.
Because you will have a sense of daily accomplishment not many others things you can do provide.
You will also get rid of the most dangerous substance any human body can produce — cortisol.
Any time you don’t stick to your word, or you don’t respect yourself & others, you generate and accumulate more cortisol, making your inner physical body more acid, with devasting consequences to your physical and emotional health.
Do your own research and find the vast amount of benefits you get when you walk your talk, when you do what you say you will. And that only happen when you fully respect your own promises and the ones you make to others out there.
Practising gratitude helps
Let’s put things in real perspective. The most valuable asset making all this possible is we are alive. So just this should be more than enough reason for us to feel happy.
Moreover if we are healthy and we count of special people loving us.
Death will come sooner or later and when it comes you will not like to regret having had a life of limitations and fears.
When you die, you will be bones and dust and not better than any other, not worse. By the way you are not better than any other now you are bones and flesh, just that.
And believe me this time we have in this life we have been given is really short, a bit more than 4000 weeks.
You will want to have lived a life full of passion and commitment. Sticking to all those things you believe are good for you and your community.
So start by feeling, showing and sharing this gratitude to yourself. Start by seeing others around who might need help, and help them!.
Start by being content with what you already have but you still choose not to give enough value today.
Stop wanting more and what others have, and focus on what you can really do with all the resources, assets and attitude you can prove to have, every second.
Value your present moment, and be fully present the most time of your life you can. Because then when death will come, you will be sure you have lived every second you had, regardless of the final result.
My little work on the subject can be found and read both online and paper book format. Check it out here — a life in a second
